The Ways of Proactivity

Proactivity
Your Good News this Week
February 18 - 24, 2006

Let us learn from the scriptures today about being proactive.

No need to recall the past, no need to think about what was done before.
See I am doing a good deed, even now it comes to light; can you not see it? (Is. 43: 18-25)

Jesus was preaching when some people came bringing him a paralytic carried by four men; but as the crowd made it impossible to get the man to him, they stripped the roof over the place where Jesus was, and when they had made an opening they lowered the stretcher on which the paralytic lay. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "My child, your sins are forgiven." (Mark 2:1-12)

We all affect each other. According to Carl Jung, "The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of 2 chemical substances; if there is a chemical reaction, both are transformed." We affect each other both negatively and positively the moment we encounter one another.

We hope to do it right the first time with a proactive attitude. By regarding the person as our own can the cycle of proactivity start. Second, remember of think about what we can give the other rather than what we can receive. Love produces love; giving produces giving. Even the most selfish person is actually a person in need; he can still change.

And finally, remember that the heart of every proactive attitude is Jesus who came "not to be served but to serve."
